Top10 Damaging Hair Habits You Need to Change ASAP. ” The beauty of having short Hair is that I actually can wash and style it at home ” !

We grow up taking care of our hair a certain way without ever giving it a second thought as to whether it is the correct way or not. And so the habits form. We all want great hair, but are we willing to change some habits in order to ensure that happens? The thing about hair habits is that they are usually hard to break, but on the other hand, your hair is very easily broken! So what’s a girl to do? The first step is to see if there are better ways to handle that delicate mane of yours. From simple up-dos to your regular shower routine, check out these seven damaging hair habits you need to change as soon as possible.

I love glamour and artificial beauty. I love the idea of artifice and dressing up and makeup and hair.

#1: Brushing Tangled Locks From Roots to Ends

The obvious way to brush hair may seem to move from top to bottom: right? Wrong. If you’re prone to tangly hair, you’ll want to work from the bottom up to ensure each knot is brushed out with the least amount of damage possible, as opposed to pushing each knot onto each other. Grab a wide-toothed comb and begin with the lower sections to avoid unnecessary hair loss.

#2: Trying to Dry Soppy Wet Hair

There are two ways in which you shouldn’t try to dry super wet hair: with your towel or with a hairdryer. Yes, we’re all guilty of it sometimes but it’s best to quit rubbing your towel over your tresses like you’re trying to light a fire with two twigs. It causes unnecessary friction. Try using a cotton T-shirt or something less abrasive to blot your hair dry if you must. As for hairdryers, avoid reaching for it until your hair is 50-60% dry before applying the heat tool to finish it off.

#3: Brushing Your Hair Too Often

Is brushing your hair too much of a good thing? Perhaps. It’s time to say goodbye to the 100 strokes before bedtime habit that our mothers instilled in us. Constant brushing, especially if done vigorously, can lead to extra damage for both the scalp and your tresses. Take extra caution if you have curly hair, as brushing too often unfolds those curly-Qs of yours. And to top it all off, if you’ve heard that you need to brush to distribute the natural oils you can toss the theory to the wind. Dry hair is a result of lack of moisture, not oils.

#4: Overusing Hot Tools

Even worse: without protective serums! I love an at-home blowout as much as the next girl, but applying heat to the hair is something that should be done sparingly. Back in my high school days, we would have pin-straight hair using a flat iron on the daily. Talk about damaging! Luckily, the natural look is in like sin and your hair is loving it. Keep the hot tool use to two or three times per week maximum and always use a heat protectant to coat the strands and save your hair some damage.

#5: Washing Too Often (and Roughly)

Very few people actually need to shampoo daily so if you find yourself lather-rinse-repeating every day then it’s time to cut it out. Shampoo is needed to remove excess sebum, oil, dirt and daily pollutants from your hair but if you are constantly stripping these things from your hair you also take away the natural oils which protect your scalp and strands. That leads directly to dry scalp and dry hair. Try skipping a couple of your normal washes and see how your hair begins to thank you.

#6: Not Getting Regular Trims

We’ve all met at least one girl in our life with long, shiny hair who says “I haven’t cut it in over three years!” And while getting regular trims may seem counterproductive to achieving long, luscious locks it’s actually the key ingredient. While it may not equate to longer hair, getting trims every 8-12 weeks helps keep the hair strong and healthy by eliminating split ends which could eventually otherwise creep up the strand and lead to breakage. So, take better care of your hair by making those regular check-ups.

#7: Sporting Tight Hairstyles

I had a friend who would always tie her hair up around the house in a little ballerina bun and even wear it to bed. Me, on the other hand? I love having it down. So if you happen to be the type who wants your hair out of your face at all times, just know it could be damaging your lovely locks. Elastic hair bands can be too tight which crease and break the strands meanwhile high ponytails pull at your scalp and hairline which can even lead to headaches. If you can’t let go of your favorite updo, try scrunchies which are less rough on the hair and sport a loose bun.

#8: Showering with Hot Water

You may have heard this one before but that’s because it is one of the most common hair habits we have that can easily be changed. Hot water dehydrates both the hair and the skin so every time you shower with hot water you are damaging your hair. When the hair is wet, it is most vulnerable. This leads us to extra breakage-ville. What you can do is try luke-warm to warm water while rinsing your hair at the very least and, if you can, have a final rinse of cool to cold water to close the hair follicles before exiting the shower and beginning your brushing.

#9: Ignoring Your Scalp

So, we take care of ourselves from head-to-toe
or so we think. While you may give TLC to your hair from root to ends, people often forget the scalp treatment. This can mean anything from using too much dry shampoo and creating excess buildup on the scalp to excessively scrubbing the scalp while shampooing. What can you do? Give your scalp a gentle rub using your fingertips (not your fingernails!) when shampooing to remove hair care products and stimulate the hair follicles. You can also look into purchasing shampoos made for your scalp and hair type in mind, from dry to oily to irritated. Shampoo doesn’t always have to be about the strands (that’s what conditioner is for!).

#10: Brushing Your Hair When Wet

Brushing your hair when it’s wet can be very damaging. Wet hair is weak hair, making it extremely vulnerable to breakage and tangles. So instead of picking up your hairbrush directly after the shower and running it through your hair, use a fine-tooth comb instead. Start from the ends and work your way up to be softer on tangles. A regular hair brush is too abrasive and can tear hair straight out or leave you with split ends. Better yet – comb your hair before you enter the shower to shampoo and condition so there is less brushing needed on the way out.

Ditch your lackluster routine of hot water, aggressive brushes, and hot tools to bring the strength and shine back to your hair. Your fragile hair deserves some brand new habits in your routine and maybe some brand new products to boot. The easiest way to make or break habits is by adding or extracting one at a time, until you’ve created a routine full of healthy hair habits that bring you good hair days that just don’t quit.

” Top 8 Amazing benefits of cashew ” .. The best things come to those who want to give up.

Don’t give up just because things are hard

Who doesn’t know about cashew nuts? Caju is what we call them in India. We use them mostly in sweets and children love to eat them as they are. Cashew nuts or ‘kaju‘ (Hindi), ‘Jeedipappu’ (Telugu), ‘Munthiri Paruppu’ (Tamil), ‘Andiparippu’ (Malayalam), ‘Geru Beeja‘ (Kannada) and ‘Kaju‘ (Gujarati) are full of anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals which are required for the normal functioning of the body. They actually belong to Brazil but Portuguese brought them to India in the 16th century. The kidney shaped or bean shaped nuts have many health benefits, a few of which are presented below:

Health Benefits of  the Cashew Nuts:

Below listed are the benefits of cashew nuts.

1. Prevents Cancer:

Proanthocyanidins are a class of flavonols which fight against tumor cells by stopping them to divide further. These proanthocyanidins and high copper content in cashew nuts help fight against cancerous cells and keeps you away from colon cancer. This is one of the major cashew nut benefits.

2. Healthy Heart:

Cashews contain low fat content when compared to other nuts and that too in the oleic acid form which is very healthy for heart. They are cholesterol free and the antioxidants present keeps you away from heart diseases .

3. Lowers High Blood Pressure:

Cashew nuts lower your blood pressure  with the help of magnesium present in them.

4. Helps Hair:

Copper is the mineral which helps your hair get that color. So if you take cashews which are full of copper content, you can get that black hair that you always wished for .

5. Healthy Nerves:

Magnesium is stored on the bones surface which prevents calcium from entering the nerve cells and thus keeps the blood vessels and muscles relaxed. Insufficient amount of magnesium can lead calcium to enter the blood vessels leading them to contract. It also leads to high blood pressure, migraine headache etc.

6. High on Vitamins:

Cashew nuts are rich in vitamins like riboflavin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, niacin etc. These vitamins keep you safe from sideroblastic anemia, pellagra, etc.

7. Pleasant sleep:

After menopause, these cashew nuts can give you relaxed and pleasant sleep during nights.

8. Macular Degeneration:

Cashew nuts have the ability to filter Sun’s UV rays and protect us from macular degeneration .

  • Now that you know the health benefits of Cashew nuts, ensure that you eat a few once every week I am sure you already love them.

I was smiling Yesterday, I am smiling Today and I will smile Tomorrow. Simply because of my Beauty & your Duty â˜ș” Best 6 Beauty Tips For Girls & Woman 2 Fight The Summer Heat Wave “

Strong girls know how to keep their life in order. Even with their in heat wave face, they still manage to say, I’m OK with a smile .

This year has been particularly a scorching surprise  with the onslaught of the sun, coming on full swing in spring instead of summer, and the temperatures soaring to 45 degrees when we were just about getting to enjoy the season. I have been bombarded with queries of sunburn, open pores, burning of the hands and feet, burning eyes and above all, how to stay cool .

Besides maintaining a light diet, here are some easy beauty tips for girls that can help you cure your

So how does one try and adjust their body to the harsh weather, when the country is facing a heat wave? For starters, let’s work on the diet and exclude the evils – rich gravies, fried snacks, starchy food, alcohol and aerated drinks. What you really need to include in your summer bar are chaas (buttermilk), coconut water, lime water, light squashes of Bael and Rhododendron, which help cool the system. Moreover, include lots of seasonal fruits in your diet like watermelon, musk melons, cucumber, raita and bottle gourd (gheea). Add fresh mint leaves into food, salads and drinks to help you keep cool.

  • Beauty Remedies to Beat the Heat

1. Burning Hands and Feet

For those of you who experience extreme burning on the hands and feet, I would suggest that you rub bitter gourd slices on the soles of your feet and the palms of your hand and watch how you’re your skin feels.

2. Burning Eyes

For burning eyes, keep used tea bags in the freezer and place them on your eyes for a few minutes and relax. Rose water pads and cucumber slices are also very highly effective.

3. For Fresh Looking Skin

I would like to suggest that you store fresh rosewater in the fridge at all times and spritz your face and neck with this several times in a day. If you are working, you can keep a bottle in your office. For those of you, who have children, make this a daily routine when they come back from school or college. You will notice immediate effect.

Never throw away watermelon peels; in fact just keep them in your freezer and rub them whenever you get back from outdoors. Not only will it help cool the skin but also provide natural AHA’s and make the skin soft and well hydrated.

4. Open Pores

Open pores become a big issue during summers, and to prevent this, just put a couple of slices of raw tomatoes in the freezer and then place them on your skin for it to absorb the juice. Rub gently into the skin and feel the tautness. You will notice the open pores shrink soon.

5. Scalp Problems

I have recently got a lot of queries from people who are experiencing boils on their scalp. This could well be due to the sudden heat wave and the best way to treat this is to rinse the hair with neem water.

The rinse can be made by boiling a handful of neem leaves in one litre of water and letting it cool. After shampooing, rinse the hair with this mix. You could also apply fuller’s earth mixed with cold milk if you have dry hair and leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse. For those of you who have oily hair, mix the fuller’s earth with yoghurt and apply on the scalp and hair.

Neem leaves can do wonders for your scalp

6. Body Odour

Body odour can be like a nightmare in summers and it is best to avoid synthetic material and stick to cool cottons and tussars. Linen also works well. Avoid tight fitting clothes and weave your day around loose and airy fits to keep your cool.

Try and bathe twice a day and add a few drops of essential oil such as lime, geranium, bergamot and lemon to your last rinse of bathing water. For those in a tub, add sea salt, lemon slices, mogra or jasmine flowers and soak in their goodness. A cup of milk added to this bath water will be magical for the skin as it will make it softer and hydrated naturally.

Now that you have got these simple tips, just imbibe them into your lifestyle and feel the difference. No sooner than you know, you would have dealt with this burning issue and be feeling as cool as a cucumber!

Top 7 Simple & Healthy Breakfast Foods For Busy Mornings. ” Breakfast can hide your hungryness and it’s reflect one thing in you that is Strength ” .

  • I eat healthy and don’t go by a diet chart. The breakfast is usually heavy, complemented with short frequent meals. My dinner is high on proteins and low on carbohydrates.

Breakfast can get your day off to a great start provided you eat the right things. Think heart-healthy grapefruit, inflammation-fighting salmon and eggs, fiber-rich whole grain, spices to get your metabolism kick started, or even a savory porridge peppered with delicious golden onion and warming ginger. Pick right and you’ll do your body a world of good!

Healthy Breakfast Foods For You

Putting together a healthy breakfast in the morning rush may seem challenging. But it is easier than you think. There really are some healthier and easy-to-create breakfast choices that you could be making. Whether you take a cue from ayurveda, pick something that is heart healthy, or steer clear of some store-bought goodie, a little change can go a long way. Here are some smart options to get you started.

1. Sweet Or Savory Porridge

If you’re going by what ayurveda suggests, your breakfast needs to be a warming food that is easy to digest. And porridge ticks all the boxes! You could stick with a traditional oatmeal topped with some fresh fruit or dates. Alternatively, try millet or oats in a savory porridge with cumin, fenugreek seeds, some onions, fresh ginger, and ghee. Use yogurt on the side to cool off.

2. Eggs

Protein is a good way to kick off the day and eggs are among the most convenient and quick breakfast foods. Plus, they’re versatile, so you could have them poached, boiled, scrambled, or in an omelet loaded with veggies depending on how much time you have. Worried about the egg calories? There aren’t that many calories in an egg. Why protein? Because it keeps you satiated longer, so you won’t feel hungry for a while. Also, fewer chances of your munching on something you shouldn’t. In fact, researchers have actually suggested that a good breakfast choice is one that’s high on protein besides having a low glycemic load, but more on that later.

3. Salmon And Other Lean Protein

If eggs don’t get you excited, how about a protein-rich start to the day with some salmon? It’s an ideal option for pescatarians too. Fatty fish like tuna or salmon also deliver all that omega 3 fatty acid goodness which protects your body from inflammation, lowering your risk of heart disease, arthritis, and cancer. Toss together a quick breakfast with salmon and a side of fresh veggies, eat some with scrambled eggs, or put some on wholegrain toast.

4. Berries

Berries are one of the easiest breakfast food additions and it won’t even feel like you’re punishing yourself. On the contrary, you may even feel like you’re having a very indulgent breakfast once you scatter those beautiful ruby red raspberries or orbs of blueberries over your yogurt or muesli or oatmeal. Even a smoothie powered up with berries works a treat. What makes them so good? Berries will deliver a vitamin-rich boost to your body first thing in the morning, giving you antioxidants that protect against inflammation and even lower bad low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels

If you’re worried about eating the sugar in the berries, rest assured you’re not breaking any rules. The American Diabetes actually recommends berries among the superfoods for diabetes.

5. Fresh Vegetables

Research suggests that having some vegetables at breakfast may help ensure you meet the daily recommended intake of this food group without falling short of it. Consuming low glycemic index and low glycemic load foods can help boost your health in general and may even lower your risk of metabolic disorders as well as liver problems. Try adding some fresh vegetables to your eggs or toss together a little salad. You could even make it the night before if time is at a premium.

However, if you want to be especially good, cooking your vegetables gently can work even better. Ayurveda recommends consuming your veggies cooked and not raw to aid digestion early in the day. Experiment with lentil soup, mashed sweet potatoes, or winter squash seasoned with some cumin. Or keep it familiar with steamed broccoli or some carrots or peas along with your savory porridge.

6. Grapefruit And Other Low Glycemic Index Fruit

Load up on vitamins and antioxidants from grapefruit that are good for your skin and also fight free radical damage both inside and out. Or stew a small serving of pears or apples with no added sugar. Fruit as well 100 percent fruit juice can help count toward your five portions a day of fresh vegetables and fruit. Just take care not to have more than a third of your fruit group intake via juice. Orange and grapefruit juice are smart choices because they are nutrient dense, giving you more goodness by way of vitamins/minerals per cup than most other juices.

However, there is fruit and there is fruit. A sweet, calorie-laden bowl full of grapes, pineapples, or mangoes is not the same as, say, a grapefruit. For instance, 100 gm of grapes contain 16.25 gm of sugar and 67 kcal compared to just 6.89 gm of sugar and 42 kcal in a similar portion of grapefruit.  If you do choose the sweeter fruit with higher glycemic index, have a small half serving.

7. Lemon/Lime Water

Kick start the day with a healthy drink as well. Try having a glass of warm water first thing in the morning, with some lemon or lime squeezed into it. The warm water encourages muscular contractions in the intestinal walls to aid bowel movements, purging waste from your body. The lemon/lime is vitamin- and mineral-rich and is believed to help free up toxins – known as ama in ayurveda – from your digestive tract. That way, you begin each day properly cleansed from the inside out. Think of it as a daily detox! This can help your kidneys do their job better and may even help if you have acne or are struggling with a weight problem.

  • I believe in breakfast. It’s the one meal that my kids usually eat without a fuss, so that’s huge. As for myself, I can’t function without it, and I see it as a great way to get some healthy greens in, some coffee, and on a good day, maybe even some news of the world via the newspaper.

Watermelon is the fruit of summer. It is one of the most refreshing and satisfying snacks to have on a hot day. I mean it tastes great, contains very few calories, and is loaded with antioxidants and amino acids.

  • Rich in beta-carotene which is beneficial for skin and bone health
  • Improves eye health, prevents macular degeneration
  • Relieves constipation
  • Reduces muscle cramps
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Increases blood flow
  • Hydrates and nourishes the body
  • Acts as a diuretic

Imagine drinking a big glass of watermelon juice, it is oh so refreshing!

I have recommended watermelon juice so many times to different people for different ailments and it always work: To relieve constipation (especially for kids!), to reduce bloating and water retention, relieve pain, kidney cleansing, or simply to reduce PMS symptoms.

Read about the full health benefits of watermelon.

Choose a watermelon that feels heavy. Pick up a few other melons of the same size and choose the heaviest one. The weight is the juiciness of the melon.

Watermelon Bald Patches

Most watermelons have a “bald patch” that is pale-yellowish in color, ranging from white to yellow, to orangey. Watermelons are heavy and they sit on the ground as it ripens. The longer it stays on the vine, the riper and sweeter it will be.

When picked too soon, the “bald spot” is small or almost non-existent. Avoid those ones. Watermelons don’t continue to ripen once they’re cut off from the vine and will remain less sweet.

A big white spot on the watermelon indicates that it is almost ripe, but not quite ripe so it may not be as sweet as the yellow spots, or even better—the orangey spots (best!).

Pick a watermelon that has a nice oval shape, not deformed in any way. It shows that the melon received adequate sun and water while on the vine. The skin should look dull or matt, not shiny. A shiny watermelon is under-ripe.

Pick one that is free from bruises, cuts or blemishes and one that isn’t too big. A melon that has a hole or is broken in any way allows air into the fruit and will ferment. You may be tempted to buy the biggest watermelon, but it is better to buy two medium ones than to get one big one. The medium ones are about the best.

With Or Without Seeds

When buying a watermelon, you may be tempted to pick a seedless watermelon. I know it is annoying to spit out those seeds, but those seeds are proof that it is a “real” watermelon. Seedless watermelons are genetically modified, so you want to avoid those seedless ones. A discussion on a Penn State Science course page refers seedless watermelons as “a genetically created hybrid”, and has this to say:

Seedless watermelons are the product of cross-breeding a “male” watermelon pollen with 22 chromosomes per cell, with a “female” watermelon flower with 44 chromosomes per cell. This mixture of cells creates a sterile fruit that is incapable of further producing seeds. Therefore, you cannot grow a watermelon from a hybrid, seedless watermelon.

Fruits are meant to have seeds, always choose those one with seeds over “seedless”. As they say, “Seedless foods will breed a seedless (infertile) generation.”
